In our area, a beautiful place often calls to me (and my camera) to visit in the spring. We’re not quite to spring yet here, though this gorgeous season is getting close.
Today after an appointment nearby, I stopped by Deepwood to eat my curry chicken sandwich with mango chutney on Naan bread, and take a quick stroll.
Although I only had my iPhone with me, I thought you might enjoy seeing a few pictures of the emerging signs of spring.
The Deepwood property was established 125 years ago. Since that time, this vibrant garden and manor has served as a focal point in the community. Now there’s a public park and historic house museum.
When I have taken engagement pictures or senior photographs for friends, I often take them to Deepwood. I’m not a professional photographer by any means, but I will do in a pinch, apparently.
The following photos were just taken with my iPhone, © Susan Kuenzi 2025:

Numbers 21:17 (NLT)
Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! Yes, sing its praises!”
Deuteronomy 11:14 (NLT)
“…then he will send rains in their proper seasons—the early and late rains—so you can bring in your harvests of grain, new wine, and olive oil.”
Deuteronomy 33:12 (NLT)
Moses said this about the tribe of Benjamin: “The people of Benjamin are loved by the LORD and live in safety beside him. He surrounds them continuously and preserves them from every harm.”
Before I emerged from my vehicle after enjoying my chicken curry on Naan, I saw a park employee, and asked if there were gardeners working today in the park. While this used to be a very safe place to go alone, these days it’s wise to be sure there are others around. He responded, “We have several gardeners working today, so you couldn’t be more safe.”
The truth is, His Presence with me offers safety and refuge.
From the very first human beings who enjoyed fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden, we have longed for His companionship, whether we consciously understand this or not.
I felt safe as I spent a few moments strolling around the cobblestone or brick pathways, or enjoying the garden and historic Deepwood Manor from outside.
However, we live in troubled times. Just as the fall of man impacted life in so many ways back when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, today we see the impact of humanity’s disobedience.
I am so thankful that because of the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we can have restored fellowship with God. His Holy Spirit lives in us, and as Colossians says, we have “Christ in us, the hope of glory.”
So while I felt glad to see several gardeners working today in these scenic old gardens, I have the living God keeping me company, living in me through the Holy Spirit, and I am safe and loved every moment.
I am exceedingly grateful for His Presence and the wonder of His love expressed through Christ.
I can’t imagine going through this life without His help and His nearness.
I am incredibly blessed because no matter where I go or what I’m doing, He remains steadfast and He graciously accompanies me.
I am never alone!
If you’re not yet acquainted with Jesus, and you’d like to know more about this miracle of grace and mercy made possible by His sacrificial love, please feel free to message me. I’m always glad to share the hope within me.
Join me in praying:
Dear Abba Father,
As I left the park this morning, the sky lit up with lightening and I hear the claps of thunder rumbling in the heavenlies. Hail came pounding down, and I sat and waited for the visibility to improve.
Thank You that as I write, my dog is laying near me, and the sunlight streams through the bay windows. I am so thankful for Your loving, powerful Presence in my life, moment by moment.
We have so much to be thankful for…and the grace You have shown me brings a joyful smile to my face as I pray. Thank You!
In Jesus’ Holy Name,
Amen
